Speaker:  Pam Fischer, The Wood Theater spoke about her life long struggle with declining hearing ability and how a Cochlear Implant has changed her life.  She provided details about how the Cochlear implant works and how complex the tuning of the implant is to get the right settings for daily use and for each individual.  Most recently, she visited her audiologists to tune her impant which made a world of difference.  As a member of the board for the Wood Theater she has has been part of a project to implement technology into the Wood Theater which would allow hearing impaired to receive sound directly into their impant or hearing aid which would make listening to performances much, much easier and enjoyable without background noise disturbance.  The cost of this technology is approximately $16,000.  Pam was instrumental in obtaining enough contributions to be able to purchase this equipment.  It will be the first application of this technology in the area.
