Spinoffs!
The Scoop on the Glens Falls Thursday Meeting with Danielle Grasmeder!
Good Evening and Happy Sunday Fellow Rotarians! I hope you are enjoying this crisp fall weekend! Mike and I went apple picking yesterday with some friends at Hick's Orchard in Granville. If you have not been, I recommend it 10/10!

Now, for anyone who missed this week's Zoom call, we had the pleasure of hearing from  Lia Rubel of Telehealth for Seniors!

Telehealth for Seniors is a registered 501(c) charity that focuses on bringing access to resources that allow disadvantaged senior citizens the healthcare they need during a time when they may not feel safe going out into their community. They provide devices and information on wifi locations that the seniors may either not know about or may not be able to afford because of their financial situation.

Lia showed us the specifics of what Telehealth for Seniors does for these disadvantaged individuals. Their efforts included laying out plans for the patients to connect to public WiFi available in their respective areas, working with local physicians offices to accommodate these seniors, and ensuring that they have the appropriate devices to accommodate their Telehealth appointment (i.e. front-facing camera, working volume, understanding of how to log into a video conference, etc.).

One of my favorite things about this organization is that it's completely run by college students! They have very low administrative costs (as all of their "staff" are volunteers) and pretty much all of the donations they receive directly fund the initiative.  The organization is still in its infancy as the founders (who are based in Florida) only started this 501(c) about 6 months ago. It is amazing that there has been such a great response to a program that is still in its beginning stages!

Now I ask you all, how can we bring this program into our community? We know that there is a need for a program similar to this in our community as well as throughout the Adirondacks. Lia did say that most of their taskforces in New York were focusing their energy on the city (understandably) so how can we bring this program to our community? Maybe we could start our own Telehealth for Seniors board within the Rotary Club? Maybe we could do a "Device Drive" and all dig through our drawers and cabinets to see if we have any old devices laying around that we could donate to this amazing program? The sky is the limit here! We could truly help to make a difference within our own community by connecting with Telehealth for Seniors and bringing them into Glens Falls!

At the top of your spinoff (just like last week), you will see a box saying "Click this....".   I have included a link to the recording of the Zoom meeting so that if you missed it, you can still catch up on Telehealth for Seniors and the amazing work that they do!  You will have to enter a passcode when you click on the link, I have provided it above on the link so that it is easy to see and write down.

P.S. No Member Spotlight this week :( I did not receive any submissions!
Please send me your Member Spotlight Submissions for next week! Nominate anyone who you would like that is part of the Rotary Club of Glens Falls! Send your submissions for the member spotlight to stepinic101@gmail.com to be featured in our weekly spinoffs!

Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to see everyone on the Zoom call this Thursday!
