For our first lunch meeting of February, we welcomed Laura Marx, Executive Director of Comfort Food Community. Laura discussed how they have been able to help families around the area through multiple community partners and programs. Comfort Food Community is also one of our beneficiaries of the Harrison Freer Rotary Community 5K race this coming April.The Comfort Food Community provides so many services to those in need of food in our community through programs such as:
- food vouchers through Glens Falls Hospital - participants shopped at a variety of farm stands, markets, and local food vendors for fresh food
- volunteers gleaning food directly through local farms such as potatoes, blueberries, and so much more
- holiday delivery services to senior living sites and community centers
- fundraisers
- food pantries, and so much more!
Comfort Food Community distributes over 1 million pounds of food locally, serving about 73,000 individuals. Learn more: Comfort Food Community.
We also inducted 2 new members to Glens Falls Rotary: Erin Coon, Director of Finance & Fundraising at WAIT House, Keith Kaplan, Vice President for Administrative Services at SUNY Adirondack. We look forward to working with them both to the benefit of all in our community!
