John is President of the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, a non-profit educational institution which preserves the park's history and promotes awareness of its key roles during the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. He has been a member of the Alliance’s Board of Trustees since 2016, assuming the role of President in 2021. He is also a Trustee of the Warren County (New York) Historical Society and a member of the Warren County Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. He is a member of the Town of Lake George Planning Board and serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Friends of Albany Rural Cemetery.

The Commission's purpose is to promote the appreciation of the 250th Anniversary of the Revolution through educational and public programs and to increase awareness of the pivotal role played by Warren County in the Revolution.
Events throughout the next 6 of months of 2026 will include:
- Tour of Henry Knox Historical markers
- January 19, March 19, or visit other times - Lake George Battlefield Park Events
- April 11 - Warren County 250th Gala at Fort William Henry
- May 3 - Glens Falls Symphony 250th Concert
- May 22 - Repose of the Fallen Dedication at LG Battlefield Park
- June 11 - Lake George Music Festival Concert
- July 3 - Crandall Park celebrations including choir, fireworks, food and more!
- July 4 - morning event including reading of Declaration of Independence (details to be determined)
