We had a great turnout of 101 kids for the annual fishing derby and casting contest on Saturday, May 2nd at Crandall Park

This community event brings kids and families together from all around town and the surrounding communities. While more than half of the kids were from Glens Falls/Queensbury, many kids also came from Washington and Saratoga counties. We even had a family from Rutland and 2 kids visiting family in the area all the way from Georgia!

Our Club collaborates with the Glens Falls, New York - City Government Page, and the Warren County Fish Hatchery every year for this event and we appreciate Glens Falls Mayor Diana Palmer for attending. Special thanks to Luke and Jeff at FISH307.com of Lake George for the gift bags of hooks and bobs for each kid, and special discounts on the poles and tackle box prizes! A very special thank you to Stu Rixman for over 10 years of volunteering to measure and weigh fish at the derby. Local middle and high school students helped register kids, run the casting contest, track fish measurements, and pass out free books as well from the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund.

Thank you to all our volunteers, families, and kids for participating in this fun annual tradition. Did you catch our article in The Post Star? Check it out if you can, otherwise catch you next year for more fishing!
