We also celebrate Birthdays this week.  For all you new members here is how it works.  If you celebrate an April Birthday – you sit at the Birthday Table.  We ask you contribute by check the amount of your age.  It is a lot for Art Norton!  The money goes towards our scholarship program for HS students graduating.  Checks payable to the Scotia Rotary Foundation.  You then get to pass out cake and collect $1 for each slice.  If you can’t make this weeks meeting, many Rotarians simply mail their check in or drop it off at a later date if they so desire.
 
Norm Dascher, CEO of the Hyde Collection – is our newest club member.  Please be sure to introduce yourself if you haven’t already 
 
Past Fellow GF Rotarian Charles Appleyard passed away recently.  I always say that the past Rotarians help make the club what it is today – so thank you Charles.
 
New Date for Fishing derby is April 27th.  Please note in your Calendar and thanks to Tim Bartlett for chairing this event.
 
Charla is keeping us informed….Earth day is April 20th at Glens Falls City Park – next to Crandall Library 12-4pm.  Live music, food, speakers, kids activities.   Also Winter Raptor Fest is May 18 and 19 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Saving land and birds for people – sponsored by the Friends of the IBA
 
Thank you to Patti Pepe for all her hard work organizing our BBBS Bowl for Kids sake.  We did great and raised more than Kiwanis this year!  More importantly – we are helping the youth in our area..
 
We received a Thank you from the YMCA for our support of their annual campaign.  We are helping send kids to summer camp.  It’s a good thing as Martha Stewart would say!
 
Rotary 5k – Down to the wire - Sign up now!!.  We need many hands on deck to make this a success.  The date is Saturday April 13th at SUNY ACC.  If you are new to the club this is a fun event to help at and work with other Rotarians.  Reach out to PP Jim Goodspeed to see what you might enjoy helping with at the event.  Packing party at the Conkling Center April 11 from 4-6.  We have enough help for this…..
 
April 4th Chicken Dinner– Support the Glens Falls Senior Center and fellow Rotarian Kim Bren and skip the cooking this evening!  Chicken and Biscuit dinner at the West Glens Falls Firehouse, Veterans Rd, Queensbury.. 4-7pm  $10.  It’s famous folks.
 
April 6th is our District Assembly.  April 6, 2019 7:30am - 3:00pm First Reformed Church 10 North Church Street, Schenectady
Join Rotarians from around the District for our annual District Training Day and Grant Management Seminar.  This event is free to all Rotarians and includes a light breakfast and lunch. 
New Member Orientation - 1:30 - 3pm:  Perfect for any Rotarian who has joined Rotary in the past few years.  Untangle your questions about Rotary, learn about Rotary's alphabet soup, come to understand the incredible and vast array of programs at both the District and International level, plus info about what your own club is up to.  More info to follow on how to register.  See Cindy if interested in attending. 
 
 
GF Brewfest Saturday April 6 at the Queensbury Hotel.  4-7 PM.  Proceeds benefit both the Adirondack Theatre and the Feeder Canal Alliance, For which our fellow Rotarian Jeanne Williams is the Director of.  See Jeanne for further details.  Want to have even more fun?  Check out Taps and Apps at Seasoned Friday April 5th  - all to benefit the Feeder Canal Alliance.
 
Hey folks our club is now up to 100 members!  We are once again climbing and welcoming new Rotarians to do the good work of our club.
 
Our club now has an Opiod Task Force Committee under the leadership of co-Chairs Barb Sweet and Jim Goodspeed.  Please stay tuned for more details on how you can get involved.
