This week – We meet at the Park Theatre.  Remember – no parking in the lot directly next to the Theatre. There is plenty of parking on the streets and in the lot of Sawyers – as well as the parking garage.  Come listen to the Queensbury High School Jazz band perform for us.

We have four new candidates for membership who were voted on at the Board meeting.  Unless we have any objections to the following candidates over the next week, we will proceed with their induction. Andy and Janice Holding are sponsored by Charles Adams.  Andy owns A.R.H. Construction Company.  He is involved in the Open Door, Katrina Relief, Neighbor to Neighbor, Hope for Haiti, Feeder Canal Alliance and Rotary work projects.  Janice Holding worked for R.J. O'Brien Insurance Agency.  She is the leader of Bay Road Church of Hope for Haiti Mission and  Co-Leader of Bay Road Church Neighbor to Neighbor among other activities.  Gabrielle Grasmeder is the daughter of our Member Kathy Grasmeder and is sponsored by Cindy Amell.  Gabrielle is a Student at SUNY ADK and is very familiar with Rotary and is looking to do some community volunteer work so she reached out to us.  Norm Dascher is the new CEO of the Hyde Collection and is sponsored by Cindy Amell.  Norm will be a nice addition to our Club as a representative for our Museum.  All four candidates have been visiting our lunch club meetings.  Reach out and introduce yourself if you haven’t already.

Board Report from the February Board meeting – We voted to give  a Master Chef Sponsorship of $500 to the World Awareness Children’s Museum for their International Cuisine Dinner and Auction on Sunday May 5th.   We will be advertised in their Event Program.  We also voted to give $500 to the Honduras Water project for the Colonie-Guilderland Rotary club.  Kirk Pogie is spearheading this project and came and spoke to our club recently about this project.  As PP Harrison mentioned at the club meeting last week – we are going to need to either raise our yearly dues or add an additional weekly fee to our lunch meeting for each person to offset our expenses.  We simply are not able to keep up with our club expenses.  The board will keep you posted on our decision.  We welcome any suggestions.  This is your club and we want to keep it running smoothly for all!
Stay tuned for more involvement with the Habitat for Humanity house build.  PE Tim Bechard will be spearheading this when he returns.

Our 5K is coming up soon – April 13.  Stay tuned for signups online to help.

March 24 is our BBBS Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2019
For several years, the Glens Falls Rotary Club has participated in the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks. We have an ongoing rivalry with Glens Falls Kiwanis Club and the SGF Rotary Club for the “Pin of Prestige”. Kiwanis has held it the last two years and it’s time to bring it back to our Rotary Club! If you are interested in participating as a bowler, please contact Patti Pepe, our team captain, at pattipepe88@yahoo.com or (518) 222-5048. You don’t have a be a good bowler to join in! It’s all about the fun! If you would like to make a donation to our Rotary team, the Rotary Rollers, please go to www.mentoringinfo.org/bowl . Go down to the middle of the page and click on “Donate to a Bowler”, when the box opens up, type in Rotary Rollers then click on “Donate”. Your contribution stays local and helps give children a one-on-one caring mentor to guide them on a path to success. Thank you!
This Thursday March 7th is our District Membership Summit.  If interested in attending please visit the District Website.  It will be very informative.
