Spinoffs!
The Scoop on the Glens Falls Thursday Meeting with Danielle Grasmeder!
Good Morning and Happy Sunday Fellow Rotarians! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather as we move into the last few weeks of summer.

First, let's talk about our incredible program from last Thursday! ShelterBox is such a wonderful organization and I felt honored to hear about all of the things that the program does for communities in need!

Now, for anyone who missed this week's Zoom call, we had the pleasure of hearing from Bill Tobin, Rotary Relations Manager for ShelterBox USA.  He shared with us how ShelterBox has changed the lives of millions of people around the world, and how we can help them continue their work while looking a Worldwide Pandemic dead in the eyes.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with ShelterBox, they are a global organization that believes Shelter after disaster is a human right. They strive to bring as much normalcy as they can to people whose lives have been uprooted. Bill spoke about ShelterBox's work all around the world, but focused on their most recent distributions in Syria, Haiti, and the Philippines, illustrating the hope and excitement that the big green boxes brought to these communities in need.  They deliver essential supplies including a big family sized tent, cooking sets, solar lights, and activities for children. The box also includes resources needed to start rebuilding the homes that these people have so tragically lost.

ShelterBox also been instrumental in providing relief to communities ravaged by the Novel Coronavirus.  It makes you sit back and think about how terrible the COVID situation is in the United States, but how much worse it could be for countries with weak, understaffed healthcare systems, limited supplies of PPE, and nothing but fear and worry to comfort them in a time where no one is sure if they, or their loved ones, are safe. Everyone is combatting an invisible killer during this Pandemic, and ShelterBox brings security, hope, and comfort to communities that would not have the luxury during a time when they need it most.

At the top of your spinoff (just like last week)  you will see a box saying "Click this....".   I have included a link to the recording of the Zoom meeting so that if you missed it but would still like to watch the program!  You will have to enter a passcode when you click on the link, I have provided it above on the link so that it is easy to see and write down.

So now I challenge everyone to think about what can we do as a club to give back to communities that are recovering from disaster? How can we help incite the same feelings that the sight of those big green boxes do within our own community? Then, how can we expand it to the rest of the world? Click on the link below that says "Click Me...!" to learn more about ShelterBox and what they do for the communities they help!

P.S. I am reaching out to new members to start the process of highlighting a new member each week, but I am also taking submissions! Please reply to this email if you feel there is a Rotarian who should be recognized next week in the spinoffs!

Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to see everyone on the Zoom call this Thursday!
